The last AWCA Power Tea for 2013 was a day filled with fabulosity, good conversation, good food and good life lessons. The Winston Hotel, in Melrose, was overtaken by women drenched in bright summer colours, fascinators and women ready to engage in conversation on topical issues.
Our theme for the second and final installment of our Power Tea Series for 2013 was Be Fearless. Our Tea kicked off with a coaching session hosted by coaching royalty, Queen Ramotsehoa. The emphasis of this session was that, saying you're fearless is not that same as being fearless. That fear we all have inside that stops us from achieving goals was finally given an apt name, “The Terror Barrier". The Power Tea is one of the programmes that fall under “Leadership Development” as part of AWCA’s three tier strategy. It has become increasingly popular with members since its inception.
The Power Tea is a platform for mentorship and networking, with an added element of ladylike fun. At these events, members have access to mentors and industry champions who speak on different leadership styles, personal growth and share their lessons learnt with those in attendance. It creates a space for members and keynote speakers to be candid and honest about their experiences, to share their stories as women, and to learn from, inspire and teach each other.

The first AWCA KZN Power Tea in partnership with Unilever was held on 25 May 2013 at Unilever Umhlanga with its stunning sea views. The theme for the Power Tea was “Be Bold, Be Fearless, Be You”
Prior to the Power Tea, Ms Nirakasha Sookraj, AWCA KZN committee member, facilitated an interactive mentorship session held at the same premises in the morning with the mentors and mentees of the AWCA Mentorship Programme. It was with evident that Ms Masibonge Mntambo, AWCA KZN committee member, who is also an employee at Unilever, along with her Unilever colleagues, worked tirelessly to ensure that the event preparations of both event sessions were a success.
